nessus automatic plugin update not working

Hello,

We have configured the nessus-fetch.rc file to download plugins through proxy server. We are using Nessus version 4.0.1. The problem is the proxy asks for 2 level of authentication before connecting to the website. Manually we are able to download the plugins, the issue is with automatic plugin update. Please let me know whether the nessus supports 2 levels of proxy authentication, if yes please let me know whether i have to make any changes to the nessus-fetch.rc file.

Nessus supports one level of proxy authentication as defined in the nessus-fetch.rc file:

    proxy=
    proxy_port=
    proxy_username=
    proxy_password=

Can you elaborate a bit on the "two levels" of authentication required for using the proxy?

      Thanks for the reply.

Our office network has web sense server. The client requests intially go thru Proxy server once it is authenticated then the requests are redirected to Websense server so twice the users are prompted for Credentials before connecting to the website. Is it possible to include this in nessus-fetch.rc file. Please let me know if you need further clarification .

Currently, I believe it supports a single proxy. The only workaround that comes to mind is arranging it so the credentials are the same for both proxies, which Nessus should then use each time it is asked.

I will bring this issue up internally and see if we can address it. This is the first time i've heard of such a setup personally.
